Dr. Cortés Guiral is an oncological surgeon, specialist in early, advanced and metastatic stages of cancer, super-specialist in peritoneal cancer (primary or metastatic)

with intense clinical activity at the helm of IVOQA (Viamed Institute of Advanced Oncological Surgery), as well as scientific study, research and dissemination of advanced cancer.

Specialist in minimally invasive surgery, she leads the first and only international course on minimally invasive treatment of peritoneal disease: laparoscopic peritonectomy, laparoscopic HIPEC, PIPAC and ePIPAC (organised as part of the official courses of ESSO – European Society of Surgical Oncology).

She is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), leads the Strategic Relations Committee of the International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP), Member of the Cancer Prevention Committee at the European Cancer Organisation (ECO), Secretary of FESEO (Spanish Federation of Associations of Oncology) and is actively involved in the dissemination of information on peritoneal disease for both patients and professionals via social media.

She has collaborated in many international publications in first rate scientific journals, such as Nature, on HIPEC, PIPAC, ePIPAC, international consensus meetings on HIPEC, PIPAC and has given many talks on PIPAC and congresses worldwide and for different programmes and patient associations.

She trained in Spain (Madrid) with residencies in the leading Peritoneal Surgery Units in Europe. She obtained her certification as an expert in peritoneal pathology at the European School of Peritoneal Surface Oncology, worked for three years in the Advanced Cancer Unit of the King Khaled Hospital in Saudi Arabia and is currently at the helm of IVOQA at the Viamed Santa Elena Hospital in Madrid with a great team of oncologists, palliative care professionals, specialists in oncological nutrition, specialists in physical exercise for oncological patients, specialists in physical and respiratory physiotherapy, psycho-oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, anaesthesiologists, intensivists, pharmacologists, nurses, secretaries, etc., all of whom carry out a unique system of prehabilitation and multidisciplinary pre- and post-operative treatment focusing on the humanisation of the patient and their families.
