At IVOQA, the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis by minimally invasive means is possible. Dr. Delia Cortés Guiral is one of the pioneers in minimally invasive complete peritonectomy. Dr. Cortés organises the only course in the world to train surgeons in this technique. The last edition of the course was held last June (2022) in Alicante.
Dr. Cortés has trained surgeons from more than 18 countries in this technique and has given lectures at numerous surgical conferences.

After a strict selection process, patients who might benefit from this approach, which uses laparoscopy technique, would be at a major advantage in the postoperative period, since pain is less, mobilisation is much earlier, and they have just 5 small incisions in their abdomen. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is also administered through these small incisions.
