The patient with prescribed oncological surgery, thoracic or abdominal, should undergo a respiratory prehabilitation program. This program should be supported by nutritionists and physical rehabilitation specialists, which will improve the patient’s functional status.<\/p>


The target of this prehabilitation is the group of patients who, after being evaluated in their pulmonary function tests, present borderline values and, in the case of the stress test, with low oxygen consumption.<\/p>


The aim of the program is to reduce the comorbidity index of these patients.

On the other hand, the work of respiratory physiotherapy in the ICU is fundamental in the first 48 hours, as long as the patient is stable. This reduces the sequelae of bed rest and instability.<\/p>
